Jasmeet Bains is a family physician and a Democratic member of the California State Assembly, representing District 35 since 2022. Born in Delano, California, to Punjabi Sikh immigrants, she earned her medical degree from the American University of Antigua. Bains is the first South Asian American woman and Sikh American elected to the California Assembly. She is currently running for the U.S. House of Representatives in California's 22nd Congressional District in the 2026 election.
