Jean Nelson

Jean Nelson was appointed as a Judge to the Superior Court of Los Angeles County by Governor Jerry Brown in 2018. Prior to her appointment, she was a partner at Scheper Kim and Harris LLP from 2008 to 2018. She also served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Central District of California from 1995 to 2006 and was an associate at McCutchen, Doyle, Brown and Enersen LLP from 1992 to 1995. Her legal career began as a law clerk for the Honorable Laughlin E. Waters at the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California from 1990 to 1992. Nelson earned her Juris Doctor degree from New York University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University.
