Before her appointment, she served as an Assistant United States Attorney for 21 years, working in both Los Angeles and Brooklyn, New York. In the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California, she was the Deputy Chief of the Major Frauds Section. Her career as a prosecutor focused on complex fraud cases, including ponzi schemes, tax evasion, and money laundering. Earlier in her career, Feeney was an associate at Arnold and Porter and a law clerk for the Hon. William H. Yohn, Jr. of the United States District Court in Philadelphia. She earned her Juris Doctor from Yale Law School and her Bachelor of Arts from the College of William and Mary.
