Jim Beres, a Democratic candidate for Iowa House District 99 in 2026, is a lifelong Iowan and Burlington resident of 21 years. A Burlington attorney, he previously served as Hardin County Attorney and worked 21 years in the Burlington Public Defender’s office prior to retirement. He advocates for restoring Iowa pride by investing in arts, parks, and infrastructure. Beres aims to stop attacks on minorities and LGBT Iowans, defend reproductive rights, and raise the minimum wage to help working-class families. He was a Democratic nominee in the 2024 election, and is on the ballot in the Democratic primary on June 2, 2026.
