Jocelyn Benson is the 43rd Secretary of State of Michigan, serving since 2019. She is currently a Democratic candidate for Governor of Michigan in the 2026 election. Previously, she served as the dean of Wayne State University Law School from 2012 to 2016. Benson earned her bachelor's degree from Wellesley College, a master's degree from Oxford University, and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. Early in her career, she worked for the Southern Poverty Law Center and clerked for Judge Damon J. Keith.
