John Edward James is an American politician, businessman, and military veteran serving as the U.S. representative for Michigan's 10th congressional district since 2023 [1.5]. A member of the Republican Party, he previously ran for the U.S. Senate in 2018 and 2020. James is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and served eight years in the U.S. Army as an aviation officer, deploying to the Iraq War. In April 2025, he announced his candidacy for governor of Michigan in the 2026 election.
