Joe Mitchell

Joe Mitchell, a Republican, is running for the U.S. House to represent Iowa's 2nd Congressional District in the 2026 primary election. He previously served two terms in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023, where he was an Assistant Republican Leader. Mitchell also held federal roles as a Trump appointee, serving as a regional administrator for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and as chief of staff for the Federal Housing Finance Agency. He advocates for fiscal responsibility, lower taxes, economic growth, and conservative values, including defending the right to life and the Second Amendment, aligning with the MAGA movement. Mitchell grew up in Clear Lake, Iowa.
