John D. B. Carr

John D. B. Carr is the 118th Sheriff of Prince George's County, a position he assumed on December 6, 2022. A lifelong resident of the county and a member of the Democratic Party, Sheriff Carr has built a distinguished career spanning over two decades entirely within the Prince George's County Sheriff's Office. His extensive service provided him with deep institutional knowledge prior to his successful election. Before becoming Sheriff, he held the senior command position of Assistant Sheriff. His law enforcement expertise is supported by a strong academic background, which includes a Bachelor's degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland, College Park. He also holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from Norwich University. Sheriff Carr's commitment to public service extends beyond law enforcement, as he is a past member of the Prince George's County Democratic Central Committee.
