John Edwards is the current Mayor of Clive, having held the position since 2022. He has a long history of public service in the city, beginning with his election to the Clive City Council in 1995. He served as Mayor Pro Tem for multiple terms between 1998 and 2021. Professionally, Edwards is the Associate Dean for Information Resources and Technology and a Professor of Law at Drake Law School, where he has taught since 1984. He has authored and co-authored several texts on legal research. His community involvement includes serving on the Clive Active Park Task Force and the Clive Library Committee, where he was instrumental in the library's creation in 2000. He was named the Outstanding Citizen of the Year for the City of Clive in 2019.
