Joseph Bellino Jr. is the incumbent Republican State Senator for Michigan's 16th District. Before his election to the Senate in 2022, he served three terms in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2017 to 2022. Bellino also served on the Monroe County Community College Board of Trustees for 15 years, including two years as board chair. A lifelong resident of Monroe County, he owned and operated the Broadway Market for over 20 years and worked in his family's beverage distributorship.
