Josh West is a decorated U.S. Army veteran and incumbent State Representative for Oklahoma House District 5, first elected in 2016. Born in Tulsa and raised in Grove, Oklahoma, West served nine years in the Army, including deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star with "V" Device for Valor after being shot multiple times in a 2003 firefight while shielding his commander, leading to his medical retirement in 2005. A Republican, he currently serves as Majority Floor Leader and co-founded the Legislative Veterans Caucus, advocating for veteran-related initiatives.
