Joy Burk is an incumbent member of the Ankeny School Board, having been elected in 2021. She is a graduate of Ankeny High School, received a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa, and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Northern Arizona University. Burk taught for 10 years before leaving the classroom in 2014 to focus on her family. She and her husband run a nonprofit organization called Miracle Travel Works.
