Karen Piper Mitchell

Karen Piper Mitchell is a Democratic candidate for State's Attorney in Prince George's County, where she has been a resident for over 50 years. A graduate of Largo High School, she earned her undergraduate degree from Duke University and her Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center. Mitchell brings over 25 years of prosecutorial experience to her candidacy. Her legal career began in 1999 as an Assistant State's Attorney in Charles County. In 2011, she achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first female Deputy State's Attorney for Charles County, a role in which she manages the legal staff and oversees daily operations. Mitchell also serves on the Maryland State's Attorneys' Association's Legislative Committee.
