Kathy Schmaltz is a Republican member of the Michigan House of Representatives, representing District 46 since 2023. Before her election to the state legislature, she worked in broadcasting as a news anchor, writer, and associate news director at WILX-TV in Lansing. She also worked in radio and hosted a public policy discussion show. Schmaltz holds a bachelor's degree in communication arts from Michigan State University and has served on the board of the Michigan Education Trust.
