Kathy Szeliga is a Republican member of the Maryland House of Delegates, where she represents District 7A. First elected to the state legislature in 2011, she served in a leadership capacity as the House Minority Whip from 2013 to 2021. Prior to her career in public service, Szeliga worked as a teacher and was a small business owner in the construction sector. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education from Towson State University. Her legislative experience also includes her time as Chief of Staff to State Senator Andrew P. Harris. In 2016, Szeliga was the Republican party's nominee for the United States Senate in Maryland, a high-profile statewide campaign.
