Keith Washington is a Democratic candidate running for an At-Large seat on the Prince George's County Council in Maryland. Before entering the current race, Washington served the county as a police officer and later as the deputy director of homeland security. He previously sought public office, including a 2006 bid for the county council and a 2022 campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives against Steny Hoyer. In 2008, Washington was convicted of involuntary manslaughter following a fatal shooting at his Accokeek home. He served thirteen years of a forty-five-year sentence before securing an early release with the help of Georgetown students.
