Lesley J. Lopez is a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing Legislative District 39 in Montgomery County since January 9, 2019. Before entering public service, she had a career as a broadcast journalist for news organizations including ABC News, CNN, and the BBC. Her professional experience also includes serving as communications director for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and working as an adjunct professor at George Washington University. Within the Maryland General Assembly, Lopez has served as Deputy Majority Whip and held the position of President of the Women Legislators of Maryland. Her committee assignments have included the Judiciary Committee and the Health and Government Operations Committee.
