Linda Liu Sun is an incumbent judge for the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, having been elected in March 2020 and assuming office in January 2021. Before becoming a judge, she served as a Supervising Deputy Attorney General for the California Department of Justice, where she worked from 2001 to 2020. Her work at the Attorney General's Office involved consumer protection litigation and representing state agencies in actions against professional licensees. Sun was born in Hong Kong and came to the United States at age 18. She earned her bachelor's degree from UCLA in 1988 and her J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law in 1999. While in law school, she worked as a judicial extern for the late U.S. District Judge Ronald S.W. Lew. She currently presides over dependency cases at the Edmund D. Edelman Children's Courthouse.
