Lisa Demuth was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2018 and is serving her fourth term. In February 2025 she became the first Black lawmaker and first Republican woman to serve as Speaker of the Minnesota House, after serving as House Minority Leader beginning in 2022. A lifelong Minnesota resident, she lives in Cold Spring with her husband Nick; together they raised four children and have seven grandchildren. Before entering public office she ran a small business and served 11 years on the ROCORI School Board.
