She assumed office in January 2025, succeeding Jessica Bateman, and is running for re-election in 2026. Previously, Parshley served on the Olympia City Council from 2018 to 2024. A proponent of universal healthcare, she introduced The Washington Health Trust as HB.1445 and serves on the state's Universal Health Care Commission. As a veterinarian, she has also advocated for animal welfare, authoring a bill to ban foie gras production by force-feeding.
