Liz Oates, a Democratic candidate for Utah House of Representatives District 27, is a wife, mother of three, and lifelong Magna resident. She advanced from the Democratic convention on April 11, 2026, and will appear on the general election ballot on November 3, 2026, after her primary was canceled. Oates advocates for mental health, LGBTQ+ equality, disability and healthcare access, and environmental protection. Her career is rooted in service, including as a licensed funeral director and currently as a healthcare insurance case manager. She is also an active board member of The Oquirrh Foundation. Oates is running to ensure Utah is affordable, livable, and welcoming, believing leaders should prioritize community needs.
