Mai Vang is a member of the Sacramento City Council, representing District 8 since 2020. She is a Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in California's 7th Congressional District. The daughter of Hmong refugees, Vang was the first Hmong American woman elected to the Sacramento City Council. Prior to her city council election, she served on the Sacramento City Unified School District Board of Education from 2016 to 2020.
