Maria Cavalluzzi was appointed as a judge to the Superior Court of Los Angeles County by Governor Jerry Brown and assumed office on January 1, 2019. Prior to her appointment, she was the managing attorney and a trial lawyer at the Law Offices of Cavalluzzi and Cavalluzzi starting in 2001. Her previous experience includes serving as a sole practitioner from 1999 to 2001, a deputy public defender at the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office from 1988 to 1999, and a deputy district attorney at the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office from 1987 to 1988. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Loyola Marymount University.
