Mary Newton Moore has lived in Grifton for most of her life. She graduated from Jersey City State with a bachelor's degree in business administration and economics, and later earned a master's degree in supervision from Kean College. Her career includes being the first Black female supervisor at Revlon, where she eventually managed her own department. She has a history of political participation, including involvement in a mayoral campaign in Irvington, New Jersey.
