Mary Moore, a Democratic incumbent, has served as a member of the Alabama House of Representatives for District 59 since 2002. Born in 1948, she earned her bachelor's degree from Tuskegee University in 1970 and a graduate degree from Alabama A&M University in 1983. Prior to her legislative career, she worked as a medical technologist for the Department of Veterans Affairs hospital in Birmingham and served on the Birmingham City School Board from 1998 to 2002. She is running for re-election in 2026. Moore is Christian and Baptist, and her legislative assignments have included the Children and Senior Advocacy Committee and Jefferson County Legislation Committee.
