Mary D. Waters is a Democratic politician serving as an at-large member of the Detroit City Council since 2022. She previously served three terms in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2001 to 2007, where she made history as the first Black female minority floor leader from 2003 to 2006. Waters earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and has worked as an organizer for the United Auto Workers. She is running for the U.S. House to represent Michigan's 13th Congressional District.
