Matthew Craig Haney is an American politician serving as a member of the California State Assembly from the 17th district since 2022. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously represented District 6 on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors from 2019 to 2022 and served as a commissioner on the San Francisco Board of Education from 2013 to 2019. In the Assembly, he chairs the Committee on Housing and Community Development. He holds degrees from UC Berkeley and Stanford University.
