Matthew Sasser was appointed as the Sheriff of Greene County on March 7, 2022, by the Board of Commissioners, following the retirement of Sheriff Lemmie Smith. He was officially sworn into office on March 14, 2022. Prior to his appointment, Sasser had served with the Greene County Sheriff's Office since September 2007, holding various roles including Deputy, Investigator, Lieutenant, Major, and Chief Deputy. He ran for and won the election for a full term on November 8, 2022.
