Maurice Washington

Maurice Washington is a Republican candidate running for the U.S. House to represent South Carolina's 6th Congressional District in the 2026 election. Born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, he earned a B.S. in Psychology from South Carolina State University. He previously served on the Charleston City Council from 1991 to 1999 and worked for about 30 years as an insurance and financial advisor. A conservative Republican, Washington supports lowering taxes, cutting government spending, and using targeted tax incentives. He also advocates for expanding access to capital for small businesses, strengthening career and technical education, pushing for term limits, and increasing healthcare transparency.
