Max Riekse is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel with 32 years of service, including deployments in the Vietnam and Iraq wars. He also served as a Michigan public school teacher for 23 years. He previously served two terms on the Fruitport Township Parks Commission and as commander of the local VFW post. Riekse holds a bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida and two master's degrees from Western Michigan University.
