Melissa Wells

Melissa Wells is a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing Legislative District 40 in Baltimore City since January 9, 2019. Before her election, she served as the regional director for the Baltimore-DC Building Trades Union and previously worked as a policy assistant and program associate. Wells earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science, law, and sociology from the University of California at Riverside, followed by a Master of Arts in public policy from American University. In the House of Delegates, she has held the role of Deputy Majority Whip and serves as the chair of the Baltimore City Delegation. Her legislative work has focused on key issues such as housing stability, restorative justice, and workforce development.
