Michael Basnight is a multigenerational Outer Banks native who, along with family partners, purchased and renovated the historic Pioneer Theater in Manteo in February 2023. His goal was to preserve the iconic venue and continue its use for films, music, and community events. In December 2023, he was appointed to the Manteo Board of Commissioners to fill a vacant seat. His term is set to expire in December 2025.
