Michael D. Weinstein is a candidate for Judge of the Superior Court Office No. 13 in Los Angeles County, California — 2026 Primary Election. Running as Non-partisan.

Michael D. Weinstein was appointed as a Judge to the Superior Court of Los Angeles County by Governor Gavin Newsom in January 2024. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Chief of the Noncapital Habeas Unit at the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Central District of California, a role he held since 2022. He had been with the Federal Public Defender's office in various capacities since 2010. He has also been a Lecturer in Law at the University of California since 2021. Earlier in his career, Weinstein served as a Law Clerk for two U.S. District Court Judges for the Central District of California: the Honorable Philip S. Gutierrez (2008-2009) and the Honorable J. Spencer Letts (2009-2010). He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law in 2008 and his undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of California, Berkeley.
