Michael R. Powell was appointed as a Judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County in 2018 by Governor Jerry Brown. His current term is set to end on January 4, 2027. Prior to his appointment to the bench, he served as a deputy public defender in Los Angeles County from 2004 to 2018. He also worked as a law clerk for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office from 2002 to 2004. He earned his J.D. from Southwestern Law School.
