Michelle García is a Democratic candidate for Prince George's County Council in District 1, Maryland. She currently serves as the chief of staff to the current District 1 councilmember, Tom Dernoga, a role she has held since 2018. Prior to this, she was the chief of staff for Delegate Joseline Peña-Melnyk. García also has experience as the first executive director of the Maryland Legislative Latino Caucus and served on the Prince George's County Democratic Central Committee from 2018 to 2025. Her campaign is focused on key issues such as affordable housing, support for volunteer fire departments, and ensuring equitable education.
