Mike Shisler, a retired educator with over 47 years of experience, was a Democratic candidate for the Calvert County Board of Education in District 1 in the 2024 election. He holds a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from George Mason University. His extensive career in Maryland education includes serving as the principal of Beach Elementary School. Prior to his time in Calvert County, he taught in Baltimore City and Anne Arundel County and served in the Peace Corps. Shisler is focused on ensuring an equitable education for all students and has expressed support for the Blueprint for Maryland's Future. He was unsuccessful in his 2024 bid for the school board.
