Pier "Pete" Gherini graduated from the University of San Francisco in 1965 with a BA in Political Science. His career was spent in information technology, real estate, and hotel and food management. He was a member of the Blowing Rock Planning Board from 2018-2021, serving as Chairman. He was sworn into the Town Council in December 2021. His civic involvement includes appointments to the National Council on Vocational Education and as Commissioner of Housing and Community Development for the State of California. He is also involved with the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce, Blowing Rock Art & History Museum, and other local organizations.
