Richard Collier is a civil engineer with a 30-year career. He grew up on a farm in Eastern North Carolina and attended NC State University. He moved to Wilmington in 1997. His engineering work includes local developments such as Mayfaire and RiverLights. He has served on the New Hanover County Planning Board and is currently a member of the Wilmington Planning Commission. In November 2025, Collier announced his candidacy for the New Hanover County Commission following an unsuccessful bid for the Wilmington City Council.
