Richard C. (Ricky) Travers, a Democrat, represents District 3 on the Dorchester County Council in Maryland. A lifelong resident of Cambridge, born in 1956, he is a graduate of Cambridge High School and the owner and manager of Simmons Center Market and Greenhouse. Travers has a long history of public service, having first been elected to the County Council in 2005 and previously serving as its president. He has been actively involved in numerous boards and committees, including the Board of Health and the Roads Board. In 2012, he was a recipient of the William Donald Schaefer Helping People Award.
