Robert 'Banks' Hinceman has served with the Burke County Sheriff's Office for over 33 years. He began his career in August 1989 as a detention officer and has worked his way through the ranks, including patrol deputy, patrol lieutenant, and for 15 years, Chief Deputy under two different sheriffs. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Lees-McRae College and is a Certified Advanced Law Enforcement officer. Hinceman was awarded the Law Enforcement Purple Heart in 1998 and the Medal of Valor in 2008.
