Robert J. Spear is a retired professor with a career in higher education spanning half a century. A Democratic party activist, he currently serves as a member of the Garrett County Democratic Central Committee, a term that expires in 2026. He has also previously held the position of Treasurer for the committee. In 2022, Spear was a candidate for the Maryland House of Delegates. He is the author of two books of political commentary, "21st Century Common Sense" and "Blooming Democracy". During his extensive teaching career, Spear also authored numerous textbooks and technical papers on a variety of academic subjects, establishing a long record of published work.
