Robert K. Martelle was appointed as a District Court Judge for the 29A Judicial District (now District 41) by Governor Pat McCrory on February 27, 2013. He was later appointed Chief District Court Judge for the district, effective November 9, 2019. Before becoming a judge, he was a partner at the firm Williams & Martelle from 1995 to 2013 and served as defense counsel for the District 29A Drug Treatment Court. Martelle earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and his J.D. from the Campbell University School of Law.
