Robert "Bobby" Hanig is a U.S. Army veteran and owner of The Pool Guy Aquatic Services. After his military service, he moved to Currituck County and started his business, which grew to serve around 400 properties. His political career began in 2016 when he was elected as a Currituck County Commissioner, where he later served as Chair. Hanig was then elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives for District 6 in 2018 and served two terms. In 2022, he was appointed to the North Carolina State Senate and was subsequently elected to represent District 3, and later District 1 following redistricting. He has announced his candidacy for the U.S. House to represent North Carolina's 1st Congressional District in 2026.
