Robert Rivas is an American politician currently serving as the Speaker of the California State Assembly. A Democrat, he represents the 29th Assembly District, which includes San Benito County and portions of Monterey, Santa Cruz, and Santa Clara counties. Prior to his election to the State Assembly in 2018, Rivas served two terms on the San Benito County Board of Supervisors. He earned a bachelor's degree in government from CSU Sacramento and a master's in public administration from San Jose State University.
