Robin Wonsley is the incumbent City Council member for Ward 2, first elected in 2021 as the city's first Black Democratic Socialist council member. Born and raised in Chicago, she graduated from Carleton College and moved to Minneapolis in 2014. She is on leave from her Ph.D. program in Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Minnesota. Wonsley has a background in labor organizing and racial justice advocacy, including work with 15 Now MN to raise the minimum wage.
