Sade Elhawary is an educator, organizer, and advocate for social justice. Born and raised in Los Angeles to Egyptian and Guatemalan immigrant parents, she has dedicated her career to community organizing and improving outcomes for underserved communities. She earned a bachelor's degree from UCLA and a master's from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Her experience includes working as a high school history teacher, college counselor, and a youth organizer at Community Coalition for over 12 years, where she was mentored by Mayor Karen Bass. She also played a key role in founding the Nelson Mandela School for Social Justice. Elhawary is a foster mother and resides in South Los Angeles.
