Safaan K. Ahmed was appointed as a Judge to the Los Angeles County Superior Court by Governor Gavin Newsom on December 13, 2024. Prior to his appointment, he served as a Deputy District Attorney at the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office from 2012 to 2024. His earlier experience includes serving as a Deputy City Prosecutor for the Long Beach City Prosecutor's Office from 2009 to 2012 and as a Law Clerk at the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office in 2008. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Boston University School of Law. As a prosecutor, he spent nearly a decade handling sex crimes. As a judge, he currently presides over juvenile dependency cases.
