Sarah Elfreth is a Democratic politician representing Maryland's 3rd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, assuming office on January 3, 2025. Prior to her election to Congress, she served in the Maryland State Senate from 2019 to 2025, representing District 30. In 2018, she made history as the youngest woman ever elected to the Maryland Senate. A New Jersey native, Elfreth moved to Maryland for her education, earning a bachelor's degree in political science from Towson University and a master's degree in public policy from Johns Hopkins University. Her career before public office included a role as the government affairs director for the National Aquarium. Her key policy interests include environmental protection, particularly the Chesapeake Bay, and support for military families.
