Sharlene Gilmer Anderson graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Social Work in 1996 and earned her law degree from the J. Reuben Clark School of Law at Brigham Young University in 1999. She is licensed to practice law in Virginia (1999), Utah (2001), and North Carolina (2017). Her early career focused on domestic violence work and serving as a Guardian ad Litem. As a military spouse, she also worked as corporate counsel for software companies. After settling in North Carolina in 2015, she opened a private practice in 2017 focusing on estates and court-appointed child welfare cases. Since February 2021, she has served as an Associate County Attorney for Moore County, representing the Department of Social Services in child and adult protective services matters. In 2023, she was certified by the North Carolina State Bar as a child welfare law specialist.
