Sharlett Mena, a Washington native and daughter of immigrants, is a public school product and first-generation college graduate from Washington State University. She built a career in public service, including work in Congressional offices and with the Affordable Care Act. Currently, she works at the Washington State Department of Ecology, leading initiatives for clean air, water, climate action, and environmental justice. She resides in Tacoma with her boyfriend and goldendoodle. She is running for State Senate in 2026 and has championed legislation like the Millionaire’s Tax, a low-income utility assistance bill, the Toxics-Free Cosmetics Act, and the Washington Voting Rights Act.
